Absolute Space, Laws of Motion and Universal Gravitation

The classical source of force, inertia, action-reaction and long-range attraction: the physical vocabulary that Identity Engineering adapts for Mass, Gravitation and binding.

Reading protocol on this page: First Newton in his own terms. Then inspirations for Identity Engineering. Then additions from Identity Engineering perspective. The purpose here is not to describe Newton in his full being, but to distill the essential stance relevant to identity and learn from him within this framework. That is not a claim to devalue his work or to say it would be invalid when read on its own terms.
1 · Absolute Space and Absolute Motion

In the Scholium to the Definitions of the Principia (1687; English: Mathematical Principles of Natural Philosophy) Newton distinguishes absolute space and time from relative, apparent ones. Absolute space is, by its own nature and without regard to anything external, always similar and immovable. Absolute motion is the translation of a body from one absolute place into another.

Newton's famous bucket argument is meant to show that true (absolute) rotation can be distinguished from mere relative motion by the appearance of centrifugal effects. Absolute space is therefore not only a mathematical convenience; it is the arena in which true forces and true accelerations are defined. Whether that arena must be a substance independent of bodies was already contested in Newton's lifetime (see Leibniz).

2 · Laws of Motion and Universal Gravitation
Core apparatus (Newton): three laws of motion (inertia; force proportional to change of motion; action-reaction) plus the inverse-square law of universal gravitation. Force is the cause of change of motion; every action has an equal and opposite reaction; every mass attracts every other mass.

These laws supply the classical vocabulary of force, mass, acceleration, inertia and long-range attraction. They remain the baseline language in which later physics (and Identity Engineering's geometric primitives) still speak, even when the ontology of space itself is revised. Methodological caution: Newton's mass is a physical quantity in a dynamical theory; Identity Engineering's "Mass" is an engineered analogy that reuses dual roles (resistance and source), not a claim that identity obeys F = ma as physics.

3 · Relevance for Identity Engineering
Inspiration from Newton: force as cause of change; mass as resistance to change and source of attraction; action-reaction; long-range gravitational coupling between bodies.
IE additions: Mass as densified stake around the Stem; Gravitation as the attractive pull of high-Mass coherent trajectories; multi-force extension (Strong Binding + Electromagnetism) beyond pure Newtonian gravity, proposed in the blog layer; Space treated relationally (Leibniz) rather than as absolute container.
  • Mass: Newton's mass is both inertial resistance and gravitational source. Identity Engineering adapts the dual role: Mass resists incoherent change of the Stem and simultaneously curves the reachable region of configuration space so that other identities feel attraction.
  • Gravitation: the long-range, always-attractive interaction between high-Mass coherent Stems is the direct analogue of Newtonian gravity. It remains the dominant interactive force in the current public framework.
  • Action-reaction and force: every owned act that changes one identity's geometry exerts a reciprocal influence on the relational field. This underwrites the engineering discipline of measuring and designing mutual influence, without claiming exact physical equality of "action and reaction" in social systems.
  • Limits and extension: pure Newtonian gravity is only attractive and long-range. The proposed Particles layer therefore adds Strong Binding (ultra-short-range coherence) and Electromagnetism (polarity, repulsion, fields, radiation) so that identity interaction is no longer one-dimensional. See Particles of Identity and Energy Forms of Identity.

Differentiation: Newton supplies the force language and the gravitational interaction. Identity Engineering keeps the language while rejecting absolute space as the primary ontology (preferring Leibniz's relational order) and while expanding the force inventory beyond gravity alone. The mapping is deliberate isomorphy work, not a claim that identity is classical mechanics.

Einstein / spacetime foundation anchor missing

Foundations are expanding beyond philosophers (Newton, Leibniz in progress). The modern unification of Space and Time as spacetime is not yet an explicit foundation anchor, while the framework hierarchy treats Space and Time as ordered layers (Space → Particles → Time → …). This is less urgent than formalizing Identity Space itself, but it matters for narrative completeness and for readers who will ask how IE relates to Einstein.
